Tiddlywinks Nursery provides outstanding quality childcare for children aged four months to five years in North Manchester. We have recognised that developing parents’ knowledge about the Early Years Foundation Stage and being involved in their children’s learning has contributed to improved outcomes within the nursery.

By promoting strong relationships with parents and observing children closely as they settle, an accurate picture of children's skills, abilities and interests can be gathered. Excellent liaison with parents and carers significantly enhances children's achievement, well-being and development. We give high priority to ensuring parents develop a sense of belonging and have a clear voice in the care and well-being of their children. It is crucial that parents comprehend how staff value their knowledge and understanding of their child.

Key workers support parents to develop positive strategies by providing resources to enhance children's home learning, for example story sacks, home learning bags and the nursery teddy bear. Cameras and video cameras are available for parents, which help to provide an equal partnership and a balance of information sharing.

Daily digital photographs offering evidence of the children’s learning are displayed in the nursery, enabling the children to revisit their experiences during the day and to share these with parents, thus developing their communication skills.
