Jennie Smillie - Nursery Area Manager/Advisory Teacher

My name is Jenny Smillie and I began my role as Area Manager/Advisory Teacher for Tiddlywinks Day Nursery in November 2016. I am an experienced Early Years Teacher with 10 years of leadership and advisory experience, before starting my role here at Tiddlywinks I was working as a Deputy Head teacher for a large nursery school and children's centre in Lancashire. Prior to this I worked as an advisory teacher for Sure Start Centres in Manchester working with Higher Blackley and Crumpsall Tiddlywinks nurseries. Having achieved qualified teacher status in July 2002, I went on to teach in Australia for 2 years where my passion for early years education developed. Since then I have furthered my study to support my career as an early years teacher and leader having achieved Early Years Professional Status in 2008 and completing my Masters Degree in Childhood Studies and Practice in 2013. I have a commitment to giving all children the best possible start in life. My vision is to inspire excellence and I hope to engage with all children, parents and colleagues to help motivate them to learn and develop a passion to succeed. I always strive to develop a strong community network focused upon high standards.

Kathryn Evans - Nursery Manager

My name is Kathryn Evans and I started working with Tiddlywinks Day Nursery in September 2003. I have recently completed my Foundation Degree with the University of Bolton. I am looking forward to putting my new knowledge into practise and developing myself and the nursery. I am qualified with a Level 3 in Childcare, Learning & Development, NVQ level 2 in teamleading, NVQ level 3 in Management and  I am Paediatric First Aid qualified.  I started at the Hill Lane nursery working in the baby room, until I became deputy manager in January 2009 and I am now the nursery manager at our Tiddlywinks nursery in Ancoats.

I enjoy supporting the team in providing a stimulating environment for the staff and children, creating opportunities for the children to learn and progress to their highest potential.

Adele Smith - Deputy Nursery Manager

My name is Adele and I started working with Tiddlywinks Day Nursery in February 2015 as a nursery officer in the preschool room here at our Ancoats nursery. I gained my NVQ Level 3 in Children's Care, Learning and Development in 2009. I will provide the children with a warm, fun and safe environment meeting their individual needs to enable each child to have as much fun and learn new skills with their friends. I will provide a wide range of inspiring and creative activities to enable the children meet their Early Years Foundation Stage goals and prepare them ready for school.
