Set within a beautifully renovated farmhouse in the heart of Blackley Village, we have been welcoming local families for over 30 years — growing from 18 original places to 62 today, with the same homely warmth throughout.
Every Ofsted inspection has returned a grade of Outstanding, including our most recent visit in February 2023 — across teaching, behaviour, personal development and leadership alike.
A weekly visiting teacher of deaf children, sign language sessions, home visits before starting, first-aid courses for parents and home learning bags — we build partnerships that reach far beyond the nursery walls.
The nursery has evolved significantly since its inception — a major development in 2014 expanded our capacity to 62 children, a startling increase from the original 18 places. Tiddlywinks Blackley stands out not just for its high-quality childcare but also for the deep sense of community, educational enrichment, and the warm, nurturing environment we provide every day.
Greg
I have a real passion for childcare and have worked in the early years sector for over 17 years, beginning my career as an apprentice at just 16 years old. I started my journey in Scotland before moving to Manchester at 18, where I have since gained experience working across several boroughs including Salford, Wigan, Bolton and now Manchester.
Throughout my career, I have remained committed to ensuring every child has the opportunity to grow, thrive and have the very best start in life. I am particularly passionate about developing and supporting high-quality staff teams, which led me to complete my Assessor’s Award so I can help train and mentor early years professionals. I also have a strong passion for supporting children with additional needs and completed my Level 3 SENCO qualification to further strengthen my ability to support inclusive practice within the nursery.
As Nursery Manager, I am dedicated to creating a nurturing, high-quality environment where children, families and staff feel valued, supported and inspired to achieve their full potential.
